General Guidelines

• Due to the fragile nature of the works on view, all visitors must be 12 or older and all minors (ages 12–17) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

• Please don’t touch the art. Even outdoor sculptures that are exposed to the elements can be damaged by human contact.

• If the heat index value exceeds 109 degrees or if the wind chill temperature falls below 0 degrees, some trails will be closed for safety. If this occurs during an outdoor-only experience, the site will be cleared and closed until temperatures improve.

• If there are thunderstorms reported in the area, we will close the grounds until the storm has passed.

• Trails close at 5 p.m.

• Glenstone is a smoke free environment. The use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes/vaping are not permitted.

Additional COVID-19 Safety Measures

The safety and wellbeing of our visitors and associates are our top priorities and we have adjusted our visitor experience to include additional COVID-19 safety measures. These include:

• Scheduling all visits in advance; to help manage capacity, walk-ups, including Ride On Bus passengers who do not have a scheduled visit, will not be permitted

• Limiting group sizes to no more than five people

• Offering arrival times 15 minutes apart to prevent too many people from arriving at the same time

• Setting indoor capacity limits that meet Montgomery County guidelines

• Requiring visitors and staff to wear masks indoors

• Requiring visitors and staff to wear masks outdoors when within six feet of or engaging with someone outside of their household

• Requiring masks that always fit snugly under the chin (please note: gaiters and masks with exhalation valves are not permitted)

• Requiring diners at the Patio to wear masks when away from their table

• Conducting check-ins on Glenstone Way rather than inside the Arrival Hall

• Reminding all people on site – visitors and staff – to stay at least six feet apart

• Opening the Arrival Hall in a limited capacity for access to restrooms, a water bottle refill station, and the Bookstore

• Offering outdoor-only dining at the Patio

• Suspending all indoor dining

• Making certain paths one-way

• Displaying additional signage to remind visitors of our policies

• Installing touchless hand sanitizer stations

• Reminding visitors to be prepared to be on their feet the entire time and check the weather forecast before arriving

• Requesting visitors reschedule their visit if they have tested positive for COVID-19 or been exposed to COVID-19 within the last 14 days, have not followed current travel restrictions identified by the state, or feel unwell

• Displaying mask and social distancing reminder signage throughout the site

• Installing hand sanitizing stations at each point of entry, bathroom, elevator, and outside of rooms

• Disabling water fountains

• Increasing bag size permitted in the art space (now limited to 14” x 14”) to minimize use of lockers
