Founded with the mission to seamlessly integrate art, architecture, and landscape, Glenstone is an art museum located on nearly 300 acres of rolling hills and unspoiled woodland in Potomac, Maryland. The museum, opened in 2006 and expanded in 2018, offers nearly 60,000 square feet of exhibition space to showcase its collection of more than 1300 works by 200 contemporary artists. With its expansion, Glenstone now has the ability to welcome 100,000 visitors each year, and admission is always free.

Position Overview
- The Glenstone Archives is responsible for supporting the mission of the museum through the following functions:
- Providing research services to associates to enrich and enhance the mission of Glenstone.
- Providing administrative support by managing an active Records Management Program that preserves Glenstone’s institutional memory and ensure that Glenstone is meeting it’s fiscal and legal requirements and responsibilities.
- Documenting the history of Glenstone including its founding, operation, and administrative and philosophical changes over time, as well as the people, activities, and events associated with Glenstone.
- Creating and following through on preservation strategies in order to maintain the integrity and accessibility to the variety of digital and physical archival records in the collection.
- The internship will provide the opportunity to work with Glenstone’s large and varied collection of Archival records. The intern will be expected to complete one major project during their term, which will be assigned by the Archivist according to the skills and interests of the selected intern candidate.
In addition to this project the intern may be assigned to other short-term tasks that will give them an opportunity to work with Glenstone’s diverse collection of Archival records. Glenstone’s archival program is collaborative in nature. As such, there are often occasions to work with professionals from across the institution.
Required Skills & Experience
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate level Archives program or recently graduated. Preference will be given to candidates with experience or coursework in archival processing, material preservation, and digital preservation.
Salary & Benefits
The internship includes an hourly stipend of $23 per hour. The internship is part-time and will run for 200 hours starting in September 2025. Start date and number of hours per week may be agreed upon by the successful applicant and Glenstone. Please state your interest in this optional benefit in your application. Housing is offered as a taxable benefit.
