Jenny Holzer

On view
The Pavilions, Room 2

A room illuminated by red LED lights with a floor plaque in the foreground

Jenny Holzer has long used language as her primary medium, engaging words and phrases as tools for personal and political examination. Her presentation in Room 2 includes drawings, paintings, LED signs, and plaques alongside the monumental installation The Child Room, 1990. Originally commissioned for the US Pavilion at the 44th Venice Biennale, The Child Room combines vertical scrolling LED elements with a custom engraved marble floor featuring an original text by Holzer. This is the first time the work has been on view since 1993.

During the evenings of November 6–9, Glenstone will showcase a 3-channel light projection by Jenny Holzer in the Water Court. Titled what you love, the new work was made specifically for Glenstone and compiles texts from luminaries such as June Jordan, Anna Świrszczyńska, and Sappho. Learn more here.
