Joe-Pye Weed is a common name that describes several species in the genus Eutrochium. A commonly planted cultivar in Glenstone's landscape is Eutrochium dubium 'Little Joe', and it is a pollinator magnet in late summer. At Glenstone, the eastern tiger swallowtail and zebra swallowtail, monarchs, sulphurs, and many other butterflies and pollinators can be seen feeding on the pink-purple flower heads of this plant in August. Species in this genus can range from a few feet high to over ten feet high, depending on the species and its conditions. At any height, plants in this genus are host to dozens of eastern-US native species of insects.
