Lizard's tail, Saururus cernuus, is a long-blooming wetland plant found in fresh-water marshes and along the edges of streams and ponds. It was planted in large numbers during Glenstone's stream restoration project along the Woodland Trail, as it thrives submerged in water and flowers in deep shade. During the summer this plant bears tiny white flowers along a 6–8 inch spike, giving it its common name, lizard's tail. To witness a wonderful display of lizard's tail visitors can take a summer stroll along the zig-zag boardwalk down to the Woodland Trail. At the bottom of the boardwalk is an ancient double-trunked sycamore floating above a sea of lizard's tail.
