No Substitute
April 2011—February 2013![](https://www.glenstone.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/NoSubstitute_CROP-1722x1080.jpg)
No Substitute featured twelve artists exploring the fine line between truth and fiction in photography and sculpture from 1978 to 2011. Borrowing imagery and visual strategies from mass media, film, art history, and their everyday surroundings, these artists question ideas about originality, authorship, and the status of art as a commodity.
